The debut album ‘Stereo Typical’ has been out for near enough 2 weeks, they seem to have grabbed a hold of the youth of the nation, giving a cleverly infectious hip-hop twist on the pop chart. The English duo Sylvester and Rizzle worked to impress local producers, which then culminated in them finally getting into a studio with some professional producers to create their album. ‘Stereo Typical’ features fourteen songs that allure the listener through catchy rythms and a certain style factor. Before the band became big, Rizzle was working on a mix tape. This involved rapping over samples of some of their favourite artists, this idea then led to the formation of ‘Rizzle Kicks’.

Other than their album, Rizzle Kicks have also worked on covers for many other songs, such as a version of Ed Sheeran’s ‘You Need Me’ and Jessie J’s ‘Price Tag’. Allowing them to gain kudos and popularity on the build up to their album release. Although some of the songs many not stand out as much as others, for example ‘Even on a rainy day’ could be seen as drole and not as up beat in comparison. ‘NME’ have given them a rather underrated 6/10, taking note of the similarity between songs and a clear difference in quality and popularity between the songs. Ultimately a rather average mix of reviews has ended in a broad outlook of the album ‘being a laugh’. ‘The Guardian’ stated that their appeal would only branch as far as the end of puberty: ‘it’s not as if the all-singing, all-rapping Harley Alexander-Sule and Jordan Stephens were ever going to appeal to anyone past puberty anyway.’ Which its evident in some respects, but they go on to say: ‘clever, memorable and utterly infectious.’

With a few stormers in the line up, like ‘When I Was A Youngster’ and ‘Prophet’, if Rizzle Kicks continue to find that winning combination and continue to have fun doing so, they should continue how they have started. Let’s get down with the Trumpets.

Here’s a little taster of ‘When I Was A Youngster’.

Bruno Mars is one of the most appreciated singers of the moment. Since his last album DOO WOPS HOOLIGANS released the 10th May 2010 he has been everywhere, on tv, in magazines and adverts use the songs all over Europe. Most people know him from the hit Just the way you are, , and since that rocketed to the top of the charts, all his next songs seemed to follow, including other tracks you have probably heard Grenade, The lazy song, and Marry you….

Bruno Mars has obvious inspiration from R&B artists such as R. Kelly, but less obvious is the influences he takes from UK giants The Police and The Beatles. We can find a mix of soul rock and hip-hop in his musical style. It gives him his own musical personality.

His music style referenced as “soft” carry us along sweet ballads and stay in your head all day from hearing it first thing in the morning. The happy feeling it gives in turn makes you feel happy, light as if nothing could happen to you. Even if you don’t know all the lyrics you remember the sound of marry you “ don’t say no no no no, just say yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, and we’ll go go go go go, if you’re ready like i’m ready”.

You can easily fall in love with his lyrics; he also knew how to catch feelings of his listeners: ‎” When I see your face, there’s not a thing that i would change, ‘cause girl you’re amazing just the way you are”.

That’s why even if you know him, you must see him perform live and enjoy his songs in person.
His tour dates start in October in Europe, you can catch it in the UK in Brixton the 23rd, Glasgow on the 31st and the 1st of November in Nottingham. For furthermore information check the official Bruno Mars website.

Now you know you can’t miss it. Till then, you can enjoy one of his songs just here.

Author: Nass from France, who enjoy Brighton for a year =D

Ji Lee, the creative director for Facebook, sent out a tweet yesterday providing a hint to one of the main components of Facebook Music – the “Listen with your friend” feature.

“’Listen with your friend’ in ticker is blowing my mind. Listen to what your friends are listening to LIVE,” tweeted Lee.

Facebook is expected to announce an integration between themselves and a variety of music services such as Spotify, MOG, Rdio, Deezer that will result in a feedlike-display of music a user is playing on these services.

Looks like Facebook are getting closer and closer to world domination….

David Peter Meads aka Scroobius Pip has been about since about 2006, but I have to admit I have only been listening to him for the last 2-3 years. It was the earlier stuff with Dan le Sac that got me excited. It is his second second album with Le Sac, Angles is where Pip just shines and there is a quote from Betty Clarke at the Guardian that I love.

“He (Pip) is reminiscent of punk poet John Cooper Clarke, defining beauty in terms of Tommy Cooper’s bungling magic and exploring the selfishness of the self-harmer’s defiant autonomy.”

What you get with Distraction Pieces is production that is very gritty and, my word, can Scroobius Pip spit a lyric? But it’s not just the lyrics, it’s the way he delivers them. He is as an old uni friend used to say an “Urban Poet”.

He isn’t afraid to take risks, lyrically and musically. This is evident in the topics tackled on the album. Tunes like ‘Domestic Silence’ and ‘Soldier Boy Kill ‘em’, you can see straight away that there’s nothing he would leave untouched.

One of my favourite tracks on the album has to be the very interesting cover of Kate Bush’s ‘Feel It’, featuring Scroobius rapping the male’s point of view over Natasha Fox’s soaring vocals. It really is a fitting conclusion to the album.

This is defiantly some of the best stuff I have heard from Pip, it is raw emotion with the stunningly beautiful and honest rhymes throughout. With Distraction Pieces, I firmly believe that Scroobius Pip has put himself as one of the most important and relevant men in UK hip-hop.

Im going to leave you with the opening track on the video which up until the end is one take. The whole video cost no more than £100 and has Pip shaving his hair and beard off….. What more would you expect?

The announcement was made before the actual awards show and it will see Bjork’s career being celebrated. The CEO of AIM, Alison Wenham said:
“Its very exciting to honour such an original talent as Bjrk. She has consistently demonstrated that operating within the independent music sector can reap commercial as well as critical rewards. Her relationship with One Little Indian is a great example of how independent labels nurture, support and collaborate with their artists to deliver exceptional music.”

Bjork has been with the independent record label One Little Indian for the majority of her career, despite achieving huge mainstream success.

Florence told the NME of the new single, “At lot of the time when I’m writing, things will just appear. I was writing the song and this book on symbolism was lying around, and it had the painting in it. It’s nice to mix the ordinary with extraordinary.”

Their new album has already been completed , although no release date as been confirmed as yet.
